D.C.’s 2002 Development Strategy: Housing (access required)

<br /><br />While much of the nation enters the new year wrestling with the effects of the recession, the District of Columbia is planning to create more housing, foster downtown retail development and increase job opportunities for city residents.<br /><br />“I think the lead story is that the city’s priority for 2002 is housing,” said Eric Price, deputy mayor for planning and economic development.<table width="50%" align="right" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="2"><tr><td align="center"><img src="/newspics/DCcapitol.jpg" alt="District of Columbia"><div align="center"><font face="times" size="2"><i>Despite the economic downturn, the District of Columbia in 2002 is planning on creating more housing, fostering downtown retail development and increasing job opportunities for city residents.</i><hr></font></div></td></tr></table>
