Accounting
Ellin & Tucker has promoted Elizabeth Maldin to supervisor, Michael O’Heir and John Lengyel to senior in the audit, accounting and consulting department, and Rivka Bier to supervisor in the tax department. Molly Ostenberg has been promoted to senior associate in the firm’s Forensic and Valuation Services Group ‘s Washington, D.C., office. Ellin & Tucker has offices in Baltimore, Belcamp and Frederick.
Architecture
Kerry Spence has been promoted from head of the interior design department to associate by Marks, Thomas Architects, of Baltimore. She has been with the firm for two years.
Marshall Craft Associates has added Kevin M. Shea, Karin Onn, Rosalie M. Tilghman, Brandon J. Henry and Cara M. Coughlin to its staff. The architectural, planning, and interior design firm is based in Baltimore.
Awards
Leslie Johnson has been named Associate of the Year at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. Johnson has worked at Saint Agnes for seven years, first as a staff nurse in medical surgery and then as a stroke program coordinator. She is currently a team leader for the Emergency Department.
Bonnie K. Heneson, president of Bonnie Heneson Communications, has been selected to receive a Top 100 Minority Business Enterprise Award. The awards are given to outstanding women and minority business owners in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia. Heneson founded the public relations, marketing and advertising agency, which has offices in Owings Mills and Columbia. She is a three-time recipient of The Daily Record’s Top 100 Women Award, a SmartCEO Bravo! Award winner and a board member of Network 2000.
Devaney & Associates, an advertising, marketing and public relations agency based in Towson, received seven awards from the Maryland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, including the first-place honor of “Best in Maryland” for a public affairs program and six Awards of Excellence.
Haley Farm B&B, Spa and Retreat Center has been selected as Best in the Mid-Atlantic in the annual online survey for the Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards. Haley Farm is in the mountains of western Maryland, near Deep Creek Lake.
Banking
OBA Bank, of Germantown, has hired David A. Miller as its new senior vice president and chief financial officer, and Sharon H. Sykes as its new vice president of marketing. Miller most recently served as investment & funding manager/ senior vice president at Provident Bank in Baltimore. Sykes previously was vice president of marketing for the Maryland & District of Columbia Credit Union Association.
Boards
Port Discovery Children’s Museum, of Baltimore, has appointed William S. Corey Jr., John Harbaugh and Bonnie Copeland to its board of directors. Corey is a managing partner of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, of Baltimore. Harbaugh is the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens football team. Copeland is the new vice president of policy and regulation for the Laureate Higher Education Group. She is the former CEO of the Baltimore City Public School System.
Raymond Adkins, chief information officer of the Peninsula Regional Medical Center, has been named to the advisory board of the Exchange Technology Committee of the Chesapeake Regional Information Systems for our patients, Maryland’s statewide health information exchange.
The board of directors of Peninsula Regional Health System has chosen its leaders. Murray K. Hoy was elected chairman of the Board of Directors and chairman of the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees. Martin Neat was elected vice chairman of both governing bodies. Edward W. Urban was elected secretary, and William R. McCain was elected treasurer.
Deborah Lynne Potter, a partner at The Jaklitsch Law Group, has been named president of the University of Maryland School of Law Alumni Board for the 2009-2010 academic year. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Maryland College Park. The board added three members: The Hon. Karen C. Friedman is an associate judge of the Orphans’ Court for Baltimore City; N. Gordon Knox is a principal at Miles & Stockbridge; Jonathan Kucskar is a staff attorney with the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
Consulting
Mark Debinski has joined Jacoby, a business growth agency, as a principal. He specializes in leadership transition, business restructuring and management coaching. The Catonsville-based agency works with small- and medium-sized businesses in the Baltimore-Washington area.
Education
Rorye Jordon has been hired as regional partnership manager in Maryland by Walch Education, a Maine-based developer and publisher of educational materials. Jordon has hired taught in the Baltimore City Public School System and at Baltimore City Community College.
Health Care
Allan Krumholz, director of the Epilepsy Center of Excellence for the Veterans Affairs Maryland Health Care System, a professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and director of the University of Maryland Epilepsy Center, has been awarded the American Epilepsy Society’s 11th annual J. Kiffin Penry Award for Excellence in Epilepsy Care.
Pegeen Townsend has been selected as corporate vice president of government affairs for MedStar Health, of Columbia. She previously served as senior vice president of legislative policy for the Maryland Hospital Association.
Stephanie Desmon has joined Johns Hopkins Medicine as a senior media relations representative and public information officer. She comes to Johns Hopkins from The Baltimore Sun, where she spent the last nine years as a reporter and writer covering medicine and politics, among other topics.
Hotels
Eli Adams has been named general manager of the soon to be completed Residence Inn in Hunt Valley. Recently, Marriott International named him opening general manager of the year for his efforts in opening its Fairfield Inn & Suites in White Marsh.
Marketing
Andrew Vollmerhausen has been hired as associate marketing manager, and Brian Degnan as associate account manager, by gkv, a marketing firm in Baltimore. Vollmerhausen previously served as an intern with the Bowie Bayox, and as a Web designer at Casey’s Crab Co. Degnan previously was an assistant director of marketing and technical sales at Rickson Truck Wheels.
Erin Bradin has been promoted from associate to senior associate by Warschawski, of Baltimore, a branding, public relations, marketing and advertising agency. She has worked at Warschawski since 2006.
Nonprofits
The Maryland Food Bank, of Baltimore, has appointed Jennifer Small as manager and Yvonne Terry as director of development for its Eastern Shore branch in Salisbury. Small has years of experience in retail grocery operations. Terry has been with the Maryland Food Bank for more than 29 years.
Dawna Baker has been named director of development at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture in Baltimore. Most recently, Baker was associate director of development at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. The former television reporter/anchor has been director of development for Adventist Heritage Ministries at Philanthropic Service for Institutions, in Silver Spring, and manager of radio projects and programming at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, in Washington, D.C. The museum tells stories of African American heroes through its collection and special exhibitions.
Real Estate
John Hess has been appointed chief operating officer of Hyatt Commercial, of Annapolis. Hess had been director of asset management for Struever Bros. Eccles and Rouse in Baltimore. Hyatt Commercial is a subsidiary of Severn Bancorp
Jennifer Langford has been named director of sales for the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Inner Harbor, Baltimore, by RXR Realty, LLC, its developer. Langford previously worked as operations manager for The Langford Group, her family¹s land development and home building business.
Gaye Rittenhouse has joined Weichert, Realtors-Caton Properties, of Ellicott City, as an agent. She began her 35-year real estate career in a family-owned area business with her father, Charles K. Rittenhouse.
