Ravens linebacker hit with suit for $70M BY DANNY JACOBS danny.jacobs@mddailyrecord.com The mother of Terrell Suggs’ children has filed a $70 million lawsuit against the Baltimore Ravens’ star linebacker on alleged assault and battery charges. Candace Williams is seeking $20 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages stemming from two alleged incidents last month, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in Baltimore County Circuit Court. She is also seeking full custody of their two children as well as child support from Suggs in a separate action, also filed Tuesday in Towson. Williams received a temporary protective order last week against Suggs in Maryland District Court in Baltimore City. A follow-up hearing on the matter is set for Friday. No criminal charges against Suggs have been filed in connection with any of Williams’ allegations. Warren S. Alperstein, who is representing Suggs in the protective-order matter in the city, said Suggs had not yet been served with either of the county complaints. “He adamantly denies any allegations of abuse,” said Alperstein, of Alperstein & Diener P.A. in Baltimore. “You can draw your own conclusions of someone’s motives when a person files a $70 million lawsuit less than three weeks after the alleged incident.” Williams claims in her civil suit that Suggs broke her nose and threatened to kill her during a Nov. 3 altercation. Suggs also allegedly hit Williams on Nov. 29 and poured bleach on her, according to the lawsuit. Williams alluded to both incidents in seeking her restraining order against Suggs. She stated in the narrative included with the restraining order that she spit, kicked and hit Suggs during the Nov. 29 incident. Suggs “looks forward to presenting his eyewitnesses who will totally contradict her story,” Alperstein said of Friday’s hearing. Eric Gordon, a Baltimore solo practitioner representing Williams, did not return calls seeking comment on Thursday. Suggs and Williams have a 2-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son, according to the custody complaint. Alperstein said Williams and Suggs are not engaged, as has been reported. Williams, who reported no monthly income in her custody filing, is seeking child support and health insurance for the children. The custody complaint states Suggs earns more than $20 million annually. Suggs signed a six-year, $63 million contract with the Ravens in June.
