2010 Summer Camp Guide

Our list of summer camps was updated for 2010 with information from the camps themselves, or with information from their Web sites. The Daily Record called or emailed every camp listed last year, and we’ve added several new ones. We limit ourselves to camps in Maryland, except for a few where the parent organization is in Maryland but the camp is just over the Pennsylvania line.

Several organizations offer a variety of camps for a range of age groups. In particular, the Y of Central Maryland (page TK) and Maryland 4-H (page TK) conduct dozens of camps statewide. You may prefer to call those organizations directly.

Some camps had not yet set costs for 2010, and costs are subject to change. Please contact camps directly to verify tuition information. Don’t be afraid to ask about discounts for early enrollment or other reasons.

It is important to us to keep the information in this annual guide as accurate as possible. Please bring any discrepancies to the attention of the special publications editor at hope.keller@mddailyrecord.com. And let us know if you’re aware of a really great Maryland camp we’ve missed. We’ll make every effort to include it next year.

  1. Family Camps at Marine Science Consortium are an awesome way for your family to get away, unwind, and enjoy a holiday weekend on the beautiful coastal islands of the Eastern Shore of Virginia! Spend time with your family on the discovering and learning about the magnificent world of marine science. Family Campers will throw a trawl net and collect marine creatures on an ocean research vessel, explore marine habitats, kayak through tidal creeks, walk knee deep in marsh mud and enjoy the sun on a barrier island beach. We currently offer two family camps over the Fourth of July and Labor Day holiday extended weekends.

Here are some of the highlights of the weekends:
