Baltimore Gas and Electric is warning customers of higher-than-expected March bills for central Maryland residents because of the February blizzards.
The utility says February was significantly colder than last year. There were 363 hours of temperatures at or below the freezing point, compared with just 231 hours below freezing last February.
BGE says the weather is the primary factor driving up March bills. But the company also provided a one-time $100 credit for customers on last month’s bill to reduce the impact of rising energy costs.
Officials say energy assistance is available for customers who apply. And all customers can switch to budget billing to help even out payments over the year.
