Public works officials say a 36-inch water main in a remote part of northwestern Baltimore County has been repaired.
That means the 15,000 customers who’ve been without water since the weekend should have service again by Wednesday evening. It also means the 11 schools affected by the outage should be able to open Thursday.
Baltimore Department of Public Works spokeswoman Celeste Amato says repairs to the 36-inch main near Owings Mills were completed early Wednesday. She says the main is back in place, is sanitized and is pumping water again.
Amato says customers are likely to see cloudy water at first, but the water is safe, and they should simply run the tap until it’s clear. Customers may also smell more chlorine than usual.
