On the Move, 6/23: Mortenson appointed COO of St. Joseph Medical Center

Margaret Mortenson joined St. Joseph Medical Center, of Towson, on May 28 as its new executive vice president and chief operating officer. She most recently was system vice president of operations at St. Vincent’s HealthCare in Jacksonville, Fla. She previously served as executive director of cardiovascular services at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and held administrative positions at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and University of Virginia Medical Center. She is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Accounting
Jeffery P. Capron has been named managing officer of Aronson & Co., of Rockville. From 1992 to 2005 he had served as managing partner of Capron & Associates, a mid-sized accounting and consulting firm he founded. In 2005, the firm merged with Aronson & Co., and since then Capron has served as an officer, providing services to clients as part of the expanded firm’s forensic & valuation services group. He serves as a board member and co-chair of finance of The National Fund for the U.S. Botanic Garden, and as a board member and treasurer for Building Bridges Across the River.
Doreen Shute has been promoted to partner in the Calverton office of Clifton Gunderson, a certified public accounting and consulting firm with 46 offices across the country.

Heidi Mattingly, CEO of OrthoMaryland, of Baltimore, was named one of “15 Orthopedic and Spine Practice CEOs & Administrators to Know” by Becker’s ASC Review/Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review. OthoMaryland was also recognized as “One of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Becker’s ASC Review/Becker’s Hospital Review in April. Mattingly oversees 16 orthopedic physicians who specialize in advanced spine care, minimally invasive joint replacement, pediatric orthopedic care, foot and ankle care, sports medicine, hand, wrist and elbow treatment, and comprehensive orthopedic care. She is also responsible for the practice’s physical therapy, DME, MRI and complementary medicine services, and OrthoMaryland’s Greenspring Surgery Center.
Woody Derricks, an independent financial advisor and president of Partnership Wealth Management, of Baltimore, has been recognized as a top financial advisor and named to the LPL Financial Freedom Club.

Donald Wood, president and chief executive officer of Federal Realty Investment Trust, of Rockville, has been elected to the board of trustees of the International Council of Shopping Centers, a global trade association of the shopping center industry. Before joining Federal Realty in 1998 as chief financial officer, Wood served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Caesars World, a wholly owned subsidiary of ITT Corp. He is a member of the board of governors of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, and the chair of the Corporate Leadership Council and the Metro D.C. Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Patrick A. Turnes has joined the Worthington Personal Physicians Group, of Reisterstown, a part of the Mercy Medical Center network. Turnes, who is certified in internal medicine, received his degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Maryland General Hospital. Worthington Personal Physicians offers primary and specialty care services in northwestern Baltimore County and Carroll County.

Judy Wilbur has been named director of sales and marketing of Baltimore’s Tremonts. She was with Interstate Hotels & Resorts from 2000 to this year as director of sales at the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys. Wilbur previously worked at the Peabody Court Hotel and the Holiday Inn Inner Harbor. She is on the advisory board for Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and the board of directors for HSMAI.

Jody Costa has been appointed marketing communications manager of Barcoding Inc., of Baltimore. She previously served as executive editor for Marketplace Books and Traders’ Library in Glenelg. Before that, Costa spent three years as a lead proposal and technical writer at Stout Causey Consulting in Hunt Valley. Costa has a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Barcoding Inc. is a systems integrator specializing in the development, deployment and management of customized enterprise-wide mobility systems.

Leah Shearer has been named a junior associate of Warschawski, a full service branding, marketing, public relations, advertising and interactive agency in Baltimore, after completing its three-month assistant associate program.
