On the Move, 9/2: Kopp elected president of national association

Maryland State Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp was elected president Aug. 10 of the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers. The organization, which was founded to address government financial management issues, offers training and technical assistance programs, handles requests for information from its membership as well as the private sector, monitors federal legislation and agency activities that affect state government and serves as a liaison to federal regulatory bodies and congressional committees. Kopp served for 27 years in the Maryland House of Delegates before becoming state treasurer in 2002. She is also a member of the Board of Public Works, and chairs the State Retirement and Pension System.

Mark L. Swanson has been hired as studio manager of Purple Cherry Architects. He has been working with building information modeling since 2005. His work includes a LEED gold office building in Bloomington, Minn., which won two Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal Best in Real Estate Awards for 2009. Purple Cherry Architects is certified as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise/Minority Business Enterprise in Annapolis.

The National Association of Catering Executives has elected new officers and directors to its board of directors, including foundation President Troy Conklin, of Winebow Imports, Baltimore; member-at-large Linnyette Richardson-Hall, Premier Event Management, Baltimore; and Executive Director Bonnie Fedchock, of Columbia. The association offers educational programs, professional certification, chapter initiatives, networking opportunities, recognition and awards programs, a job bank and community service projects.
Providence Center has elected new members to its board of directors: Kim DiGiovanni Aluisi, attorney, Annapolis; Gary Evans, retired owner, TSI Exterior Wall Systems; Eric Fromn, retired, National Security Agency; Cathleen Larner-Beckett, principal, Ruth Eason School; and Winship Wheatley, retired director of transportation, Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Providence Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing employment, vocational, recreational, medical day care, and transportation services to nearly 500 individuals with developmental disabilities throughout Anne Arundel County.
