Baltimore Gas and Electric said Wednesday that natural gas prices would be down about 5 percent this winter.
BGE said the cost for natural gas, a traded commodity, would be 61 cents per therm, a unit of measurement for heat energy equal to about 29.3 kilowatt hours of electrical energy. Last year, the cost per therm was 67 cents per therm.
The company said this means for the average residential customer the total gas bill from Nov. 1 through March 31 would be $525. This compares to $555 for the corresponding period last year.
