The College of Notre Dame of Maryland officially announced Tuesday afternoon that beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, it will be known as Notre Dame of Maryland University.
University President Mary Pat Seurkamp said the college added “university” its name as it works toward developing its liberal arts, education and health sciences programs.
The name change will take effect on September 9, 2011, on the 116th anniversary of the college’s first day of classes in 1895. Its logos, branding, website, uniforms and other changes will be revealed when students show up for classes in the fall of the 2011-2012 school year.
