ANNAPOLIS — Maryland residents are honoring the memory of former Gov. William Donald Schaefer in Annapolis.
Schaefer’s casket was carried into the State House on Monday morning for a public viewing. He will lie in repose from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Jackie Scruggs, of Annapolis, was one of the first people in line. The 62-year-old resident is remembering Schaefer as an honest and genuine leader who truly cared about the state and its people.
After the viewing in Annapolis, a motorcade will tour key sites in Baltimore. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will host a ceremony at City Hall later Monday. Schaefer, who was Baltimore’s mayor from 1971 to 1986, also will lie in repose Tuesday in City Hall from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
His funeral is set for Wednesday in Baltimore.
