McDaniel College awarded $100k grant

McDaniel College of Westminster said it was awarded a $100,000 discretionary grant by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Roger Casey, McDaniel’s new president, will use the funds to support presidential initiatives that he outlined in his inaugural speech in April, including a renewed emphasis on global studies, and student participation in opportunities that connect the classroom with the outside world.

Casey also pledged to match the Mellon grant with an additional $150,000 through fundraising.

The three-year grant is the third received from Mellon within the decade.

A 2007 grant supported the creation of the College’s Center for Faculty Excellence and curricular innovation.
