Penn National net income, revenue up in 2Q

Penn National Gaming Inc. of Wyomissing, Pa., which owns gambling casinos and horse tracks throughout the country, reported second-quarter net income of $76 million, or 71 cents per diluted share, versus net income of $9.2 million, or 9 cents per diluted share, for the same period last year.
Revenue was $687.9 million in this year’s second quarter versus $598.3 million in the 2010 period. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters on average had forecast earnings of 48 cents per share on revenue of $686.9 million.
Through subsidiaries, Penn National owns the Hollywood Casino Perryville and Rosecroft Raceway in Maryland.

I hope that Penn Gaming will do the right thing and put some more amenities at Rosecroft. Is a shame that they made all that money, and have Rosecroft understaffed as poorly as they do now. They need to stop penny pinching and get more help there.
