DAMASCUS — Montgomery County detectives are searching a hiking trial in Damascus and another location in Germantown for a missing 11-year-old boy whose mother was found dead last week.

Police say the search continues Monday for William McQuain, who has been missing for about two weeks. His mother, Jane McQuain, was found dead in her Germantown home last week, and her estranged husband, Curtis Maurice Lopez, was arrested in North Carolina and charged in the killing.

About 20 officers and volunteers were searching the area of the Magruder Branch Trail in Damascus and the land surrounding Comsat Drive in Germantown. Police on Sunday also searched two parks.

Lopez was due in a North Carolina court for a hearing Monday. He was arrested as he was leaving an EconoLodge in Charlotte.
