Six public schools have been selected as Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools.
The names of the schools were announced Tuesday. They are: Crofton Meadows Elementary School in Anne Arundel County, Woodholme Elementary School in Baltimore County, Ring Factory Elementary School in Harford County, Rachel Carson Elementary School in Montgomery County, Whitehall Elementary School in Prince George’s County and Pocomoke Elementary School in Worcester County.
The awards are given under a state and national program that recognizes schools that exhibit high performance or significant improvement in reading and math as measured by state tests. Each winning school will get a $2,000 prize and a school-wide pizza party.
The schools will be invited by the U.S. Department of Education to apply to become National Blue Ribbon Schools.
