WILMINGTON, Del. — The city of Wilmington has locked down a charter bus company found in violation of federal safety standards.
The shutdown of Double Happyness Inc., which provides low-cost service to New York and Baltimore, comes more than a month after Department of Transportation officials first ordered the station to close because of violations.
A federal court in Philadelphia issued a restraining order against Double Happyness last week because it was still transporting passengers.
The News Journal of Wilmington reported Monday that the service apparently stopped running, although buses were still operating as recently as Friday night.
The first attempt to shut down the company came in December after it was deemed “an imminent hazard” when regulators found violations of rules governing hours of service, vehicle maintenance and drug testing.
