ROCKVILLE — A coach at a Montgomery County high school is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl who was on his track team.
Police say 47-year-old Scott D. Spear of Rockville was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of a fourth-degree sex offense.
Spear is a track and basketball coach at Richard Montgomery High School and teaches at the Julius West Middle School, both in Rockville.
Police say Spear had sex with the girl at a Rockville home in April or May, and took her back to the same home the following night and again had sex with her.
A county schools spokesman says Spear has been placed on administrative leave. The phone rang unanswered at a listing for Spear and callers were unable to leave a message.
