ANNAPOLIS — Former Annapolis Mayor Dennis Callahan has died of a heart attack. He was 70.
His death Wednesday morning was confirmed by the Anne Arundel County government, where Callahan served as the chief administrative officer.
Callahan served as mayor from 1985 to 1989. He lost a re-election bid in the 1989 Democratic primary.
County Executive John Leopold says in a statement that Callahan was a trusted friend and adviser.
Leopold says Callahan was his first cabinet selection after he was elected in 2006.
