The jury selection process may soon get a little easier in Baltimore.

A new system taking effect Monday in the city’s Circuit Court will allow prospective jurors to return their completed questionnaires online, instead of mailing them back to the courthouse.

The summons and questionnaire are also being combined into a single mailing. Officials say that’s more efficient than the separate mailings that prospective jurors received under the old system. And prospective jurors who are deemed qualified will be allowed to go online to change their report date, if they want.

Judge Marcella Holland, the court’s administrative judge, says in a statement that jurors are essential to the justice system and should be appreciated.
