ANNAPOLIS — Maryland senators are considering legislation that would mandate financial disclosure forms for state officials be filed electronically and posted online.

Lawmakers attempted to amend the bill Wednesday to include local officials who run on a slate with state-level candidates, but the measure failed.

The senators decided to wait until Thursday to consider another amendment that would apply the proposed law to county-level officials.

Sen. Roy Dyson, a Democrat and vice chairman of the Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee who is also charged with shepherding the measure on the Senate floor, says he does not support the amendment. He says the legislature should be focused on opening access to its own disclosure forms.
