The Recher Theatre in Towson won’t be held responsible for a melee that broke out downtown following Towson University’s homecoming.
An agreement was announced Monday before a scheduled hearing between the theater owners and the Baltimore County Board of Liquor License Commissioners. The Recher will not be fined or penalized from the Sept. 22 incident that drew an unruly crowd of about 2,500 people.
Under the agreement, the Recher won’t contract directly with promoters and won’t give authority to sell tickets beyond its 630-person capacity. It also must ensure contracts with event performers or promoters state the venue’s capacity.
In September, a fraternity rented out the facility, but the bar hit capacity shortly after 11 p.m. A crowd continued to gather on the street, and police arrested seven people.
