POOLESVILLE — Maryland Natural Resources Police say a bow hunter who accidentally shot himself could face charges.
That’s because the hunter shot himself with a handgun he was carrying and not a bow. Sgt. Brian Albert says carrying a gun during bow hunting season is illegal for hunters.
Montgomery County Police say the unidentified 45-year-old man called for help around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday. Police say he was found about 1 p.m. in Poolesville and flown to a hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
WTOP reports that the accidental shooting occurred in the McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area.
