Dwyer no longer plans to run for Senate

ANNAPOLIS — The state delegate who admitted he was drunk when the powerboat he was steering crashed into another vessel has dropped plans to run for the Maryland Senate in 2014.
Republican Del. Don Dwyer of Pasadena has confirmed to The Capital of Annapolis that he no longer plans to run for the seat occupied by Republican Sen. Bryan Simonaire.
Dwyer’s legislative aide, Louisa Baucom, says Dwyer will seek re-election to the House. Neither she nor Dwyer elaborated on the decision.
He had said a week before the crash that he planned to run for Senate.
Dwyer has said his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the boat crash in August. Several people were injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
