ANNAPOLIS — The trial of Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold is continuing in Annapolis.

Defense attorney Bruce Marcus is expected to seek a motion for acquittal from Judge Dennis Sweeney. The trial will continue on Friday.

If the motion is rejected, the defense will present its case.

State prosecutors rested their case on Thursday.

Leopold is facing charges of misconduct in office for allegedly using his police detail for personal and political purposes. The 69-year-old county executive has maintained his innocence.
