FREDERICK — Frederick Memorial Hospital is laying off employees as it deals with shrinking revenues, in part because it’s admitting fewer patients.
The Frederick News-Post reports that hospital officials have not specified how many workers will be losing their jobs.
Hospital president and CEO Thomas Kleinhanzl says Frederick Memorial needs to cut operating expenses by $6 million. Much of that has been accomplished through other means, but he says some staff reductions will be unavoidable.
Affected employees are being given opportunities to move into other jobs within the health system.
