Minority-owned companies join forces

OppsPlace LLC, of Bethesda, an employment portal targeting minorities seeking jobs at U.S. companies, announced it has joined forces with Black Entertainment Television Digital and Uptown Media to create a multifaceted, web-based venue designed to address minority unemployment.

OppsPlace.com, created by Robert L. Johnson, founder and chairman of the RLJ Cos. of Bethesda, and founder of Black Entertainment Television, has over 20,00 open jobs listed in entry level, mid-level and senior executive positions, according to the companies’ announcement.

BET Digital, the interactive arm of BET Networks, is a subsidiary of Viacom Inc.

Uptown Ventures Group, of Chesterfield, Va., is a luxury lifestyle company targeting affluent African-Americans.
