Survey: Home care costs more in Md.

The cost of home health care in Maryland has risen faster than the national average over the past five years, according to the just-published Genworth 2013 Cost of Care Survey. In Maryland, the median hourly costs of homemaker services and home health aide services are $19 and $20, respectively.

The annual increase in median hourly costs for homemaker services and home health aide services over the past five years are 0.9 percent and 1.9 percent, respectively. By comparison, the 2013 median hourly costs of homemaker services and home health aide services nationally are $18 and $19, respectively.

Homemaker costs nationally have risen 0.8 percent annually over the past five years and home health aide services have risen 1.0 percent annually over the same period.
