Montgomery Co. sees 4 percent job growth over 3 years

Montgomery County economic development officials said employment in the county grew by 3.9 percent between 2010 and 2012, outpacing Virginia’s Fairfax city and county and the District of Columbia.

Employment in the county rose by nearly 25,000 jobs during the period, from 631,154 jobs in 2010 to 655,824 jobs in 2012. During the same period, job growth in the Virginia suburbs was 3.6 percent and in Washington it was 2.8 percent, officials said.

The top-gaining sector in Montgomery County was professional, scientific and technical services, followed by government, retail trade, and health care and social assistance.
