ANNAPOLIS — Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the House’s second-ranked Democrat, has filed to run for re-election.
Hoyer announced that he officially filed on Friday.
The 74-year-old Hoyer has served in the House since May 1981, when he won a special election. He’ll be seeking his 17th full term next year.
Hoyer represents Maryland’s 5th district, which includes Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties, as well as parts of Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties.
