Maryland’s health benefit exchange has announced that an insurer has agreed to extend the deadline to sign up for coverage effective Jan. 1.
The exchange announced Friday that the Evergreen Health Co-op agreed to extend the deadline to Dec. 31. The exchange also says it is awaiting further confirmation of additional deadline extensions from other insurers.
As of Dec. 14, 7,435 individuals have enrolled in qualified health plans. The exchange says more than 117,000 Maryland residents are on track for coverage beginning Jan. 1 under the Affordable Care Act. That’s counting Medicaid pre-enrollments, new Medicaid-eligible residents and individuals enrolled in private plans.
After a rough start when the exchange debuted on Oct. 1, officials say nine of the biggest problems to the state’s website have been fixed.
