Four former state prison workers are admitting involvement in the 2008 beating of an inmate at Roxbury Correctional Institution near Hagerstown.
Michael Morgan pleaded guilty Friday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore to violating Kenneth Davis’ civil rights. Edwin Stigile, Tyson Hinckle, and Reginald Martin entered guilty pleas Thursday.
Twelve former officers have now been convicted in the case. At least three more are awaiting trial.
Hinckle and Morgan acknowledged they participated in the beating. Martin acknowledged he failed to intervene. And Stigile admitted he destroyed evidence by erasing surveillance videotapes.
Davis was beaten for scuffling with an officer during a previous shift. Court records show that he spent four days in the hospital for injuries including a broken nose and fractures in his back and ribs.
