HAGERSTOWN — Power companies say it may take days to fully restore electricity for some of the 155,000 customers in the dark after an ice storm in Maryland and Delaware.
The overnight storm coated some areas with up to a half-inch of ice by Wednesday morning.
Baltimore Gas and Electric has nearly 90,000 outages, mostly in Carroll and Baltimore counties. BGE says some of those customers may not be restored until Thursday.
Potomac Edison reports nearly 50,000 outages, mostly in Frederick, Carroll and Washington counties. Spokesman Todd Meyers predicts “a multiple-day restoration” of power.
Delmarva Power reports about 7,000 outages in Delaware.
Maryland State Police warn the outages may cause traffic-light malfunctions, and drivers should be careful.
