PSC rules on smart meter opt-out fees

Small businesses and residential customers of four major public utilities that provide electricity in Maryland who opt out of having a “smart” electric meter installed will have to pay a single upfront fee as well as monthly fees under a decision issued by the Maryland Public Service Commission.
