As hotel customers increasingly turn to mobile devices to make reservations, two Maryland hotel companies have emerged as leaders in their field.
Hospitality Technology reported this week that Rockville-based Choice Hotels International Inc. was the top hotel company for mobile web performance. Bethesda-based Marriott International Inc. came in third.
The rankings were from the Keynote Lodging Performance Index, which has always ranked the performance of desktop web performance, but will soon release the complete results of a mobile assessment.
As Hospitality Technology put it: “Being good in the desktop category does not translate to mobile performance.” Just looking at the top three mobile performers — Choice, Motel 6 and Marriott — that seems to ring true.
These companies ranked 10th, 12th, and 13th respectively in the desktop index. But their pages load quickly on mobile devices because they have a smaller site with fewer elements than others.
