Shake Shack announced Tuesday that it plans to open its first Maryland location, in the Baltimore Inner Harbor.
The restaurant chain, which opened its first location in Madison Square Park in 2004, calls itself a “modern day ‘roadside’ burger stand.” It serves other food items too, like hot dogs, frozen custard and even craft beers.
The Pratt Street location is planned to be environmentally friendly, like the other Shake Shack locations. It will have outdoor seating with a view of the harbor.
“Baltimore is a thriving city that’s steeped in American history, food and culture,” said Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti in a statement announcing the new store. “We feel fortunate to be joining this community, and we’re excited to have found such a great Inner Harbor location.”
The Baltimore shack is set to open early next year. The chain has three locations in Washington, D.C., including one at Nationals Park. It also has restaurants in New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Massachusetts and outside the United States.
