The Daily Record held its annual Maryland’s Top 100 Women recognition awards Monday night at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.
The program recognizes women who not only have achieved personal success, but also have contributed to bettering the communities in which they work and live. Additionally, they have played an active role in mentoring the next generation of successful businesspeople.
Since 1996, the program has recognized more than 1,000 women leaders who have made exceptional contributions to their communities.
Nominations for this year’s awards were solicited from previous winners as well as from economic development agencies, chambers of commerce, women’s organizations and the business community at large.
For the 2014 awards, 370 nominations were received.
After a preliminary round of judging, a panel of seven judges — including previous Top 100 Women honorees and Maryland business leaders — selected the 2014 Top 100 Women. Sixty-three women were first-time winners of the award. Fifteen women were inducted into the Circle of Excellence, which recognizes honorees who have received the award for the third and final time.
A special section profiling the 2014 winners will be inserted into Friday’s Daily Record. Video highlights of the awards reception will be on the Top 100 Women event page.
