Who uses pay phones anymore?
Just the unfortunate soul whose phone battery dies when they’re out and about.
Well, at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, those unfortunate souls can solve their problems without a quarter or a calling card.
BWI has converted three old pay phone banks to charging stations for passengers’ cell phones and other electronic devices. The new stations are in Concourse D, but they’re part of a continuing effort at the airport to add charging capacity for customers. BWI plans to add more later this year.
It’s not the first cluster of charging stations for BWI. The airport added some last year as well in the observation gallery. Also last year, the airport updated outlets in the terminal to include USB ports.
