With 133 days until the General Election, Republican gubernatorial nominee Lawrence J. Hogan Jr. isn’t wasting any time going after Democratic nominee Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown.
Hogan Wednesday posted the first of what is likely to be a number of online and television campaign ads, this one touting Brown as “the most incompetent man in Maryland.”
The commercial is a spoof of the Dos Equis beer commercials featuring a suave, bearded gentleman.
The narrator in Hogan’s version doesn’t offer flattering descriptions of Brown or his exploits.
“He’s happy to talk about his accomplishments,” the narrator says. “He just doesn’t have any.”
The commercial goes on to jab Brown over the mismanagement of the health exchange website, his connection to Gov. Martin J. O’Malley and the administration’s tax increases.
The 40-second spot ends with the tagline: “Stay uninformed, my friends.”
Hogan is wasting little time going after Brown on fiscal and economic policies.
In an interview early Wednesday on the Marc Steiner Show, Hogan said his goal is to highlight Brown’s eight years in office with O’Malley.
“The lieutenant governor has a record to run against,” Hogan said.
