Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake turned on what she called the Key Highway community’s front porch light.
After being turned off for renovation for more than a year, the new LED system atop the 27-story HarborView Towers lit up Baltimore’s skyline Tuesday night.
The beacon will produce light shows that can be seen by surrounding neighborhoods and by motorists driving on Interstate 95. The beacon will have special light shows for holidays and victories by local sports teams.
The beacon renovations were being completed while more than $6 million was being spent on the 20-year-old building, one of the first residential properties to be built along the city’s waterfront.
