The Howard Community College Board of Trustees has named Dennis R. Schrader as vice chair. Schrader is a director at Integrity Consulting Solutions and a faculty member at Towson University, with 30 years of experience in engineering administration. He has also served as the deputy administrator of the National Preparedness Directorate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and as Maryland’s first director of homeland security. He spent 16 years at the University of Maryland Medical System and nine years with General Motors. Schrader also served on active duty with the Naval Civil Engineer Corps until 1987, before retiring as captain in 2007. Schrader was elected to the Howard County Council in 1994 and served one term.
