A Rockville doctor with a pain management practice has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly running a “pill mill,” distributing oxycodone, methadone and other powerful drugs. Dr. Silviu Ziscovici, 59, also has been charged with supplying methadone that resulted in an overdose death. Ziscovici was arrested Wednesday. According to the indictment, he prescribed the drugs in exchange for fees with little or no medical examination and would increase dosage amounts on demand. Ziscovici allegedly worked with someone who would bring people from Tennessee to get prescriptions. According to the indictment, Ziscovici made at least $651,500 from drug distribution.
