TeleCommunication Systems Inc., an Annapolis-based mobile communications company, reported a jump in net income for the second quarter. TCS had a $1.06 million profit, or 2 cents per diluted share, compared with a loss of $1.87 million and 3 cents for the same quarter last year. The increase came despite a drop in quarterly revenue to $86.2 million from $92.8 million in 2013. TCS said its mix of business now includes less lower-margin government systems. “We entered 2014 with the commitment that 2013 was the floor on our company’s operating results, and the second quarter represents another step of steady improvement,” Maurice B. Tose, TCS chairman and CEO, said in a statement.
