U.S. Silica buys Texas company

U.S. Silica Holdings Inc., of Frederick, a producer of commercial silica, announced it has completed the acquisition of Cadre Services Inc., a sand mining company based in Voca, Texas, for $98 million. Bryan Shinn, U.S. Silica president and chief executive officer, said in a statement that the acquisition will help the company expand in the Texas market by allowing “us to provide our customers with high-quality, regionally produced products that effectively meet the demands of many of the Permian oil and gas wells.”
