Parents reminded of school immunizations

Public health officials are reminding parents to make sure their children have the required immunizations before school starts.

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said in a news release on Monday that all kindergartners must have had two chickenpox, or varicella, vaccinations.

Officials say all seventh-graders must receive a pertussis booster, or Tdap, and dose of meningitis vaccines.

Children may be excluded from school if they do not have these vaccinations, officials say.
