TCS gets Army contract

TeleCommunication Systems Inc., of Annapolis, a provider of secure mobile communications technology, announced it has received a delivery order of potentially $10 million from the Army for equipment and maintenance of Tactical Transportable Troposcatter (3T) Systems. The initial value is $5.3 million for August 2014 through February 2016, with a ceiling contract value of nearly $10 million. Troposcatter technology bounces microwave radio transmissions off the Earth’s troposphere, which is the lowest level of the atmosphere. This allows long-distance communications, even over rocky or hilly terrain that would block other communications techniques.
