The National Kidney Foundation of Maryland has named Sumeska Thavarajah, M.D., chairman of its Medical Advisory Board. An assistant professor, Department of Nephrology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Thavarajah has volunteered for NKF-MD for several years and served on the Medical Advisory Board since 2012. She also was honored with NKF-MD’s Linda Cameron Award for Patient Services for donating her time at community health screenings and assisting the Programs & Advocacy Office, as well as participating in multiple foundation fundraising events. Thavarajah completed her residency training at the University of Connecticut. She came to Baltimore for a nephrology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Bayview and has served on the Johns Hopkins faculty since 2005.
