Allegany bridge over Potomac reopens

(AP) A Potomac River toll bridge linking Allegany County to Green Spring, West Virginia, is back in business. The Cumberland Times-News reported that the reopening Tuesday of the Oldtown Bridge came about 10 weeks after it was damaged by flooding. The private toll bridge was washed out June 12. The nearest crossing is 15 miles in either direction. The Maryland Public Service Commission approved rate increases last year that tripled the passenger-car toll from 50 cents to $1.50.
