Heather B. Sachs
Policy & Advocacy Director
National Down Syndrome Congress
Heather Sachs is a highly accomplished leader in the Down Syndrome and special needs communities. She successfully advocated for a state law that now requires health care professionals to provide up-to-date information on Downs to women who receive a diagnosis of the genetic condition. As vice president of the National Down Syndrome Society, she has worked to get a landmark law passed to make 529-type savings plan available to people with disabilities.
Since her daughter was born with Down syndrome she has been an effective leader for change in the vibrant disability community to help others celebrate a person’s success by their passion, kindness and intentions rather than by academic accolades.
