David Applefeld, of Adelberg, Rudow, Dorf & Hendler, was reappointed for a third term as co-chair of the construction subcommittee of the American Bar Association’s Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee. Applefeld has 24-plus years of experience and has litigated construction defect, insurance coverage, architectural and engineering professional negligence claims as well as business disputes in state and federal courts, before administrative agencies and before the American Arbitration Association. Applefeld is active in the ABA’s Tort and Insurance Practice Section (product, general liability and construction law committee) and Forum on the Construction Industry, the Maryland State Bar Association, Bar Association of Baltimore City, Baltimore County Bar Association, Home Builders Association of Maryland and NAIOP Maryland.

Bloomfield graduated from the College of Wooster with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and has studied at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen.

The Center Club of Baltimore will honor Deborah Flateman, the chief executive officer of the Maryland Food Bank, at the annual Women in Business Trailblazers awards dinner May 5. This year, the Club will recognize three local women who work in the nonprofit sector. Flateman joined the MFB in 2007 as president and CEO. In seven years, Flateman quadrupled the food bank’s distribution, delivering nearly 37 million meals to recipients. Flateman also serves on the national board of Feeding America and is a member of the City of Baltimore’s Food Policy Task Force and the Governor’s Partnership to End Childhood Hunger. She has been appointed to volunteer posts by two governors and has been saluted in the Congressional Record on two occasions.
