Eye Opener: Gambling work group fails to reach consensus
By: Alexander Pyles
Gov. Martin O’Malley’s work group considering expanded gambling couldn’t reach consensus Wednesday, likely preventing any special session on the topic this summer.
Here’s what else is in the news today:
- The Frederick News-Post reports that a Frederick casino was never on the work group’s agenda.
- The Daily Record and others report that the Board of Public Works gave approval to the sale of a Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort, where a slots parlor will be built.
- MarylandReporter.com reports that the Board of Public Works approved a $500,000 contract to modify Medevac helicopters.
- The Herald-Mail reports that O’Malley will narrate a performance at the Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s “Salute to Independence” concert in July.
